Maps (Monitoring Attitude and Progress in Sports) - project

Liikkukaa ry has agreed a new cooperation with the Finnish Human Rights Federation for the MAPS-Project (Monitoring Attitude and Progress in Sports).

Liikkukaa will monitor and report human rights violation as discrimination and racist assaults in the field of sports to the Human Rights Federation, which will than forward the reports as part of their annual reporting.
According to the UEFA (European Football Federation)racism in sports is mostly expressed through less favourable treatment and through verbal racist insults.

According to Liikkukaa´s own observations foreign athletes are given considerably more punishments through the referees than native Finns and migrants have less access to sports facilities and more difficulties to be accepted into mainstream sports clubs. Some problems are also seen concerning employment.

Liikkukaa ry will do its own research but we can also add reports coming in from members, partners and through the network. Reports should be short, precise and contain the major facts¨: Who, how, when, where, witnesses? It will also be helpful if it would be pointed out why the incident that had occurred is to be considered segregativa, discriminative or racist.
